A Geotehnika tantárgy magába foglalja a Mérnökgeológia, Talajmechanika, Földművek és Alapozások c. tantárgyakat.  A tantárgy első féléves oktatásának célja, hogy a hallgatók a mérnökgeológia keretében megismerjék a Föld szerkezeti felépítését, a litoszféra anyagait, a felszínalakító erőket és a talajok keletkezési körülményeit. Ismerkedjenek meg az építőanyagok feltárásának lehetőségeivel, az anyagvizsgálatok céljaival.
